Fundraising to Meet Mental and Emotional Needs of Families and Children
BBR provides emotional and mental health supports for teens, young adults and families throughout Coos and Curry counties, making a positive impact in the overall mental, emotional and social health our community. BBR has three powerful programs that provide services and which we'd like to grow:
BBR Counseling Services: We provide mental health counseling to families, teens and children in Coos and Curry counties. We've grown our business through COVID, making sure to keep our doors and our hearts open to a community under severe stress throughout the past year. This next year, we plan to reach more clients in need of services and also provide training for community members in Trauma Informed Care practices and Peer Intervention Skills. We hope to do so by growing into a larger space. We see our role as expanding skills and resources to make a larger impact on our community.
Boys Ranch: We provide Behavioral Rehabilitation Services to teen boys in a caring, trauma informed residential environment. We stayed open for our boys throughout the past year, even when similar programs in Oregon were closing. We plan to grow our program this year, and to repair our Challenge Ropes Course which allows us to facilitate teambuilding and communication skills training and to instill confidence in our young men.
Independent Living Program: We provide resources and support for up to 25 youth (ages 16 -21) in the foster care system, including career and educational supports, assistance with transportation and other needs. We plan to expand the program to reach 15 additional youth (ages 14 - 15). As our young adults often face housing insecurity in Coos/Curry counties when they transition from their foster homes, we are fundraising to open an Independent Living Facility where young adults can live in a safe environment while accessing our resources and supports.
